This is a Texas landscape in the autumn with it's beautiful wildflowers and bluebonnets. I kept changing the sky and ground and then decided to add the horses running free. I don't know if it's the season and cold weather, but I've been feeling more than a little confined and the addition of the horses gave me a sense of being set free. Enjoy!

Time...or the lack thereof is my inspiration for this painting. The 24 "clear" spaces contain handwritten items from my to do list such as do the laundry, water the grass, pay the bills, etc. Sometimes 24 hours in a day just isn't enough! Rich deep thoughtful ones and others light, airy, happy, playful ones. I tried to capture a variety of moods and feelings in the different areas of the foliage and trunks. I hope the viewer can see and feel these too. The painting reminded me of another song, "Love is in the Air" was the theme song for the television series "The Love Boat". ~ Enjoy!

This is one of a series of mixed-media photo and paint layered works. To create this work I use a layer of glass over a photo with oil paint directly on the glass. The resulting image is then matted and framed with another layer of glass to create a dimensional, layered effect. The title suggests a relationship between the buried utility "monuments" in the front yards of these suburban homes and the waning utility of traditional mailboxes due to the rise in electronic mail.
